Strong tornado touched down in northern Etowah County, lifting a home off of its block foundation and moving it 60 to 80 feet (18 to 24 m) (although it remained mostly intact), destroying several manufactured homes, causing significant roof loss and exterior wall damage to two site-built homes, and destroying a two-story home (with only a few interior walls left standing) and a large wood-frame chicken house. Debris was thrown several hundred yards away from the destroyed house. The tornado also caused structural damage to several other homes (consisting of roof and exterior wall loss), and downed many trees, some of which were ripped out of the ground and thrown. In DeKalb County, destroying another manufactured home (with its undercarriage being badly twisted and mangled), causing heavy damage to a site-built home and shifting it off of its foundation, and causing significant loss of roof covering/shingles to several homes. Further along, a small farm outbuilding collapsed, a large oak tree fell on top of a home, and a barn was destroyed before the tornado weakened and dissipated. Hundreds of trees were downed along the path.
